Balajee Asish Brahmandam is a Senior Software Development Manager at Charles Schwab in Austin, Texas, where he leads 44 engineers across site reliability engineering, DevOps, product development, and an applied AI engineering practice for Schwab's core trading platforms and Schwab Investing Themes. His organization supports 100+ trading applications run to a 99.9% availability target.
At Schwab, he originated an SRE operations platform now used by 500+ trading engineers for monitoring, automated testing, and incident response, contributing to a 25% reduction in downtime. He also led a firm-wide migration from Bitbucket to GitHub using MCP servers and autonomous agents, moving 400+ repositories for more than 20 teams two weeks ahead of schedule, and co-developed internal agent tooling now used by thousands of engineers across the firm.
Before Schwab, he was a Senior Manager at PayPal, leading development, operations, and reliability teams for PayPal Credit, including Buy Now Pay Later. There he co-originated a CEO-sanctioned program to replace a $100M-a-year third-party document platform with an internal system. Earlier, he served as a Project Delivery Manager at Deloitte, where he was the solution architect on a winning $20M State of Texas modernization bid and led DevSecOps for federal programs including the FDA. He also consulted for the World Bank Group and Comcast through Navitas Business Consulting, and built cloud data platforms for immuno-oncology research at iNDx Technology.
Balajee holds a Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence from The University of Texas at Austin, a Postgraduate Degree in Artificial Intelligence for Leaders from UT Austin, and a Bachelor of Technology in Electronics from JNTU Hyderabad. He is a Docker Captain and the author of The Agentic AI Handbook and The Open Source LLM Agent Handbook on freeCodeCamp, along with articles on DZone. His work focuses on bringing agentic AI into everyday engineering while building strong engineering teams and leaders.
