Agentic Architecture Evolution (AAE): Using RAG and Multi-Agent AI to Keep Software Architecture Alive
Abstract:
Microservice architectures drift when many services evolve simultaneously and system-level documentation fails to keep pace. This keynote introduces Agentic Architecture Evolution (AAE), a RAG- and multi-agent-based framework for continuously maintaining architecture across a fleet of services. When multiple services change together, specialized agents analyze the architectural impact and capture the resulting differences in living architecture documents—including API contracts, sequence diagrams, deployment topologies, dependency views, and change summaries. Reviewers can therefore focus on understanding what changed and why, rather than relying on stale architectural blueprints. Drawing on experience with large-scale digital commerce platforms, the talk demonstrates how difference-aware architecture can reduce architectural drift and redefine the architect's role as the governor of an agentic engineering ecosystem.
