Private Cloud Database Consolidation at Financial Services
Abstract:
The high rate of digital revolution in the financial services industry has given institutions an unprecedented strain to kill success in keeping up with the ever-expanding complexity of technology, operational efficiency and regulatory frameworks. One of the most significant spheres of changing is the sphere of database management which is usually overwhelmed by outdated fragmented system and does not provide performance and scalability and cost-optimization. This paper examines the strategic use of the consolidation of private cloud databases with reference to the Deutsche Bank migration project of its Asia-Pacific (APAC) wide database (Asia-Pacific (APAC) migration project (as part of the Deutsche Bank Project. The paper examines how the migration is dealing with operational inefficiencies,
simplifying infrastructure complexities, strengthening data security and data compliance in a highly regulated financial ecosystem. It is a qualitative case study with the assistance of empirical evidence within the APAC migration scheme applied by Deutsche Bank that focuses on the pre-migration planning, the migration process, and the after-migration procedures. As critical discoveries, the consolidation project turned out to have a huge impact on lowering the total cost of ownership, improved resources application, and promotion of the risk prevention methodologies. In addition, the use of a private cloud paradigm allowed the Deutsche Bank to exert more control over sensitive financial information whilst conforming to regional and internationality compliance regulations. Besides aspects of technicality, organizational and strategic aspects of the migration are also appreciated by the study where issues of change management, cross-regional coordination and long-term scalability are brought to light. The findings focus not only on operational improvement but also on the wider implication to the financial institution that aims to strike a balance in terms of innovation and regulatory compliances. The study has contributed to the knowledge building in the academic field of cloud adoption in financial services since it offers an in-depth analysis of private cloud database consolidation. It emphasizes on the aspects of adjusting a change in technology to business policies and regulatory needs and the transforming customer expectations. The Deutsche Bank APAC case has important lessons to offer other financial organizations undertaking comparable migrations, and the report provides evidence that when approached strategically, consolidation to the cloud via means of the private cloud can form a driver of sustainable digital transformation in a global banking environment.
