Defense in Depth for Cloud Applications: A Layered Security Approach

Abstract:

Defense in Depth for Cloud Applications — A Layered Security Approach  In today’s cloud-first world, applications face an increasingly complex threat landscape — from misconfigured services and identity theft to API attacks and data leaks. “Defense in Depth for Cloud Applications” explores how to design, develop, and deploy systems with multiple, reinforcing layers of protection.  This session outlines how developers and architects can integrate security controls across every layer — identity, network, application, and data — to create a resilient cloud environment. Attendees will learn practical strategies such as enforcing least privilege, using managed identity providers, securing APIs, encrypting sensitive data, and embedding continuous monitoring within CI/CD pipelines.  By combining best practices from Azure, AWS, and .NET ecosystems, this talk provides a roadmap for implementing a proactive, multi-layered defense strategy that minimizes vulnerabilities and strengthens organizational security posture — from code to cloud.
