Evolving Firewall Architectures for High-Bandwidth Data Centers

Abstract:

As data centers scale for AI and cloud demands, requiring 100Gbps+ bandwidth and Tbps throughputs, traditional firewalls introduce latency in east-west traffic. Evolving architectures focus on distributed, hardware-accelerated, AI-integrated NGFWs: Palo Alto PA-5450 (150Gbps with ASIC), Fortinet 3200F (AI anomaly detection), Cisco Hybrid Mesh (DPU offloading). Innovations include Juniper's 800GbE spine-leaf, hybrid on-prem/cloud setups, and dual-vendor resilience. By 2025, ML automation for policies will reduce overhead, ensuring security boosts innovation in high-bandwidth ecosystems.
