AI-Driven Jira Automation: Using Machine Learning to Optimize Sprint Planning and Incident Resolution

Abstract:

As organizations scale Agile and ITSM practices, Jira often becomes the central nervous system for managing sprints, incidents, and service requests. Yet, traditional automation rules struggle to keep pace with the growing volume of data, repetitive workflows, and decision complexity. This session explores how machine learning (ML) and AI-driven automation can elevate Jira from a reactive tool to a predictive, intelligent platform.  Attendees will learn how to leverage ML models to forecast sprint velocity, auto-prioritize incidents based on impact and sentiment, and dynamically assign issues to the most effective teams. The session will showcase practical integrations using Jira REST APIs, Python, and Power BI/Snowflake analytics pipelines, as well as strategies for embedding AI into Jira Service Management to improve SLA adherence and root-cause analysis.  By the end of this talk, participants will gain a clear framework for introducing AI-powered decision automation within their own Jira environments—reducing manual effort, improving response times, and transforming operational data into continuous learning systems.
