Architecting the Future: Kubernetes CNF-Driven IMS Core Voice for 5G and beyond

Abstract:

As the world transitions to 5G and prepares for future generations of mobile networks, the architecture of voice services must evolve to meet new demands for scalability, resilience, and efficiency. This keynote introduces students and researchers to the cutting-edge transformation of IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) Core voice applications through Cloud-Native Network Functions (CNFs) and Kubernetes orchestration. We’ll explore how traditional telecom systems are being reimagined using microservices, containers, and declarative infrastructure, enabling dynamic scaling, automated recovery, and seamless deployment across cloud and edge environments. Attendees will gain insight into the principles of cloud-native design, the role of Kubernetes in telecom modernization, and real-world examples of CNF-based IMS deployments supporting VoLTE, VoNR, and VoWiFi.Audience will gain insights into how open-source technologies like Kubernetes, Prometheus, and Helm are being used to modernize telecom infrastructure, and how these innovations support voice service across multi-cloud and edge environments. Whether you're interested in cloud computing, systems design, or telecom innovation, this session will show you how the future of voice is being architected—and how you can help build it.
