Cybersecurity- AI-Driven Security Measures for IoT Networks Utilizing Machine Learning for Anomaly Detection
Abstract:
The Internet of Things (IoT) has transformed industries by enabling large-scale automation and efficiency, yet the exponential growth of connected devices has introduced significant security vulnerabilities. Traditional security mechanisms often fall short in addressing the complexity, heterogeneity, and scale of IoT environments, making real-time monitoring and anomaly detection critical. This study explores the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to strengthen IoT network security, with a focus on anomaly detection techniques that identify potential breaches as they occur. We review supervised, unsupervised, and semi-supervised learning methods and propose a hybrid AI–ML model that enhances detection accuracy, reduces false positives, and maintains cost efficiency. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the hybrid approach in identifying both known and unknown attacks, outperforming conventional methods. The paper concludes by examining the implications of AI-driven anomaly detection for the scalability and resilience of IoT networks, highlighting its role in safeguarding against evolving cyber threats.
