Accelerating Industry 4.0 with Practical Data Analytics: An Industrial Engineering Perspective

Abstract:

Industry 4.0 promises transformative gains in manufacturing, yet over 80% of analytics initiatives stall at pilot stages. This keynote offers a pragmatic, industrial engineering-driven roadmap to accelerate adoption using existing systems like MES, ERP, and SCADA. Studies show data-driven factories achieve up to 30–50% downtime reduction and 20–30% productivity gains without requiring greenfield tech overhauls. Instead, value is unlocked through process mapping, lean methodologies, and targeted use of business intelligence tools. We explore how industrial engineers can lead digital initiatives by connecting data to real operational pain points — from bottleneck detection to predictive maintenance. Real-world case studies illustrate ROI-focused wins using Excel, Power BI, and statistical process control. The session also addresses barriers like poor data quality, skill gaps, and cultural resistance. Attendees will leave with a 90-day execution blueprint and evidence that lean + analytics delivers better outcomes than tech alone. This talk repositions Industry 4.0 as not a tech upgrade — but an industrial mindset shift.
