Generative & Agentic AI for Resilient Supply Chains and Manufacturing

Abstract:

This talk is a practical survey of recent research and public case studies on using generative and agentic AI in supply chains and manufacturing. We start with today’s pain points—demand swings, supplier risk, siloed data, unplanned downtime, quality escapes, labor gaps, and growing cyber risk. We then review where AI is showing real promise: better demand sensing and planning, smarter production scheduling, predictive maintenance, automated visual inspection, and faster incident triage with human-in-the-loop agents that follow clear guardrails. We also outline the limits and risks highlighted in the literature—model accuracy and “hallucinations,” data quality and governance, edge latency and cost, security, and regulatory compliance. Attendees will leave with a straightforward view of what works now, what to watch next, and a short checklist to get started: data readiness, small pilots, integration patterns with existing systems, and measurable metrics like on-time delivery, equipment uptime, first-pass yield, mean time to recovery

Profile:

Saurabh Parekh is a Software Engineer III with a focus on data-driven platforms and AI-enabled operations. He holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Rochester Institute of Technology, concentrated in Data Analytics and Machine Learning. At Goldman Sachs (Private Wealth Management), he built a centralized portfolio-management system and a NetFlows dashboard that summarized daily trades at the CUSIP level to support strategic decisions; promoted to Associate, he moved to Global Banking & Markets, where he engineered a customized CRM used by sales teams to manage institutional and private clients and track trade activity. He now works at Walmart Global Tech for e-commerce business. He builds features for high velocity fulfillment centers that process thousands of orders with ~99% uptime. An AI and GenAI enthusiast, Saurabh is proficient in Java, Python, AngularJS, Angular, and React, and brings end-to-end experience across architecture, development, testing, and production operations.  Outside of work, Saurabh likes to keep himself updated with the latest innovations and develop personal projects. Recently he is working on building and integrating agentic AI models that proactively predict and mitigate cloud-infrastructure downtime.
