From Detection to Prevention: Operationalizing AI in Financial Services for Fraud, Accessibility, and Trust

Abstract:

Financial institutions don’t need more models—they need measurable, compliant outcomes. This keynote surveys how banks and insurers are leveraging AI across the value chain while staying aligned with regulation and risk. We’ll cover the operating basics—data readiness, governance and explainability, human-in-the-loop controls, and auditability—then highlight a small set of use cases to show the pattern without diving into proprietary detail. Attendees will leave with a practical checklist for scaling AI safely (from business case and KPIs to model risk management and change management) and an understanding of where AI consistently moves the needle in financial services.
Sample use cases I’ll touch on (briefly):

  • Fraud & payments risk: real-time anomaly detection that reduces losses and false positives
  • AML/KYC: entity resolution and alert triage to speed investigations
  • Accessibility & CX: automated checks in CI/CD to improve ADA/WCAG compliance
  • Credit & collections: early-warning signals and next-best-action guidance
  • Operations: document intelligence to cut cycle time and improve audit readiness
