Engineering Resilient Cyber Defense Systems in the Era of AI-Driven Threats

Abstract:

As digital transformation accelerates across industries, I have observed cybersecurity evolve from a reactive safeguard into a core engineering discipline that enables resilience, trust, and innovation. Modern computing environments ,driven by cloud platforms, distributed architectures, and artificial intelligence have significantly expanded the attack surface while also increasing system complexity. At the same time, adversaries are increasingly leveraging AI to scale and adapt their attacks.
In this keynote, I will discuss how cybersecurity engineering must evolve to counter AI-driven threats in smart computing environments. Drawing from my experience leading enterprise-scale cybersecurity initiatives and applied research, I will present architectural and engineering strategies for building resilient cyber defense systems capable of operating under continuous and evolving attack conditions. Key topics include secure system design, threat modeling at scale, zero-trust architectures, automation-driven detection and response, and the effective use of artificial intelligence in defensive security operations.
I will also examine emerging challenges such as zero-day exploitation, software supply-chain attacks, and adversarial machine learning. By bridging real-world industry practice with forward-looking research, this keynote aims to provide actionable insights for engineers, researchers, and technology leaders seeking to design and maintain trustworthy digital systems in an era of intelligent cyber threats
