Mobile Application Engineering with a Focus on E-commerce and Healthcare Solutions
Abstract:
Prescription services are often split across separate systems for medications, vision care, and pet health. This fragmentation creates unnecessary friction in the refill process, affects adherence, and leads to inconsistent user experiences. In this session, we’ll explore the design of a unified mobile platform that brings these services together through secure RESTful APIs, FHIR-based interoperability, modular microservices, and a HIPAA-compliant cloud foundation.
The platform uses predictive analytics and machine learning models, including random forests, gradient boosting, and recurrent neural networks to anticipate refill needs, flag potential adherence risks, and determine the right time to engage users. By analyzing refill patterns, demographics, seasonal trends, and purchasing behavior, the system delivers personalized and timely interventions. Rather than relying on static reminders, the platform continuously adapts communication tone, frequency, and channel using reinforcement learning and ongoing A/B testing. This approach helps improve engagement while avoiding notification fatigue.
In a large-scale retail deployment, the solution led to measurable improvements in refill efficiency, adherence rates, inventory forecasting, repeat purchases, and cross-category engagement. For vision care, augmented reality based virtual try-on features improved order completion rates and reduced product returns. Accessibility and equity were built into the platform from the start. The application follows ADA and WCAG guidelines, supports screen readers and voice navigation, includes multilingual localization, and incorporates bias monitoring within its predictive models to help reduce disparities in access.
Attendees will gain practical insights into platform architecture, predictive modeling approaches, implementation considerations, and governance practices that balance commercial goals with meaningful clinical outcomes. This session highlights how thoughtfully applied AI can reduce fragmentation, strengthen adherence, and support scalable, privacy-conscious prescription ecosystems.
