Integrative AI-Driven Observability in Hybrid-Cloud SAP Ecosystems: Proactive Anomaly Detection and Self-Healing Infrastructure Using Machine Learning

Abstract:

As enterprises migrate from on-premise monolithic SAP architectures to hybrid-cloud ecosystems such as SAP S/4HANA on AWS or Azure integrated with SAP BTP services, traditional monitoring approaches struggle to keep pace. Legacy tools like SAP Solution Manager rely on static thresholds, for example triggering alerts only when CPU usage reaches 90 percent or when a database table remains locked for five minutes. In distributed cloud environments, such static alerting creates a reactive gap, where system degradation may already be affecting business users before alerts are generated. At the same time, telemetry data from SAP HANA logs, cloud load balancers, database nodes, and microservices significantly increases operational noise, overwhelming administrators. This session explores the shift from monitoring, which indicates when a system has failed, to observability, which explains abnormal behavior before failure occurs. It presents a unified telemetry framework that consolidates logs, metrics, and traces from SAP HANA, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, and SAP BTP into a centralized data foundation to enable AIOps. The session further introduces a Neural Digital Twin architecture powered by SAP Cloud ALM and Machine Learning agents that continuously model baseline behavior using real-time data such as SQL execution times, RFC latency, and memory cycles. Unlike static dashboards, this adaptive model distinguishes between expected workload peaks, such as Month-End Close processing, and true anomalies. By integrating SAP Joule as a conversational interface, the framework enables faster correlation analysis between transports, infrastructure changes, and performance deviations, supporting proactive detection and self-healing operations in complex hybrid SAP landscapes.
