Enabling Sustainable 5G Networks Through Energy-Efficient Open Radio Access Networks (ORAN) Ecosystems

Abstract:

The deployment of 5G networks has raised concerns about energy consumption due to the demand for faster and real-time connectivity.  Open RAN has emerged as a potential solution to enhance the energy efficiency of 5G infrastructure.  Its loosely coupled architecture allows the integration of different hardware and software platforms, fostering energy-saving innovations.  The study explores how Open RAN can reduce energy consumption through dynamic resource allocation, intelligent scheduling, and AI-driven power forecasting.   Analyze state-of-the-art technologies in Open RAN and their role in minimizing energy usage while maintaining high network performance and availability.  Discusses practical approaches to achieving energy efficiency in Open RAN infrastructure.  Highlights potential challenges and drawbacks of implementing Green 5G solutions based on Open RAN.  Aims to contribute to the development of sustainable and energy-efficient telecommunication networks
